About

Dating back to the early 1900's, the H.A. Davidson Funeral Home operated on University Ave. in the downtown area of Morgantown until the mid 1960's and had a great reputation for service. In the late 1950's, Vincent Mancinelli and his wife Agnes began to operate a funeral home on the corner of Spruce and Pleasant Streets and remained there until 1964, when they then purchased the Davidson Funeral Home, thus forming the Davidson-Mancinelli Funeral Home which operated from the University Ave. location until the mid 1970's. Vincent and Agnes then decided to relocate their business just across the river to 108 Holland Ave., where they operated until their retirement in 2004. The Mancinelli's made the decision to sell their business to James G. Lobb and A. Craig Rotruck, who operated the Rotruck-Lobb Mancinelli Chapel from the same location until July of 2015. It was a that time that Rotruck and Lobb made the decision to allow for C. Jason Smith, II, a licensed funeral director with nearly 20 years of experience, to assume operations from the Holland Ave. location. From there, Smith Funeral and Cremation Care was born to begin serving grieving families in their time of need. Jason, his wife Cathy and their entire care team look forward to continuing friendships already made, and to the new ones that have yet to begin, by serving every walk of life from the surrounding communities in their times of need.
